Answering questions, to Cora

"It's good to hear from you Cora! I hope you are doing well, the last time we spoke you'd been having some interesting conversations with a friend over the phone. That must be terribly exciting and frustrating all at the same time! So much of how we communicate is done just through body language, it's a marvel people don't have more misunderstandings than they do."

Image
"I'm sorry if I've caused any confusion before, sometimes I forget that others don't use kinship in the same way we do" giggles, "but I've brought Raife with me to explain a few things, I even rousted him from his studies just for you" she giggles again and winks.

"I haven't really had time to pick up many past times yet, so much of our time has been spent searching for Zuko," sighs "it will be nice to have a bit of a break now. Though, I have picked up on a bit of jewelry making. I'm not very good yet, but it is a lot of fun and very relaxing."

Image
"But perhaps I should turn you over to Raife and allow him to explain a bit more about us. "

Image
Raife smiles and tries to brush some hair out of his eyes, muttering about getting a hair cut. "I'm sorry for being absent from Nemi's last message, I had gone in search of Zuko again, but it seems fate brought him sooner than I thought."

Image
"Nemi tells me you were a bit confused about our situation, I hope I can help make clear some of the muddling. Nemi and Zuko are both elementals. that is they are beings strongly associated with a particular aspect of nature. In this instance they are both fire elementals."

Image
"To explain their situation, I believe I may need to elaborate on my own. I am an elementalist, I work for my country's Conservatory of the Arts. An elementalist's task is to bond with various natural aspects to improve our own knowledge and abilities."

Image
"There was a time when most elementalists belonged to the Black Order, which was just a fancy name for the public offices that dealt mainly with the physical aspect of life; military, building, farming, etc. Though over time most elementalists began to specialize in just one particular natural aspect and so our status declined quite a bit till we were relegated to nothing more than cultural experts."

Image
"At most any elementalist should only ever summon one elemental of any aspect, but some how I've ended up with three. I'm not sure if Nemi explained this or not but Phin Tahn is also an elemental, though we've only just recently learned his name. It seems he tagged along with Zuko on his journey here, though we haven't learned much more of his story. "

The little fox slips away to see what progress Zuko has made,

already an expert at getting in the way.

Image
"Ah but that is aside the point isn't it?! I believe the most confusing part is our elemental's kinship terms... You see, under normal circumstances an elementalist such as myself, who may have taken more than one summoning would have several different natural aspects represented. As such the eldest summon would be the "Eldest" child and the second the second and so forth. So, Nemi is the eldest and Zuko would be her "younger brother." However it seems that since they are both fire elements, this normal ranking does not seem to apply. This is a unusual situation to say the least."

Image
"Typically though, to make a already long story a bit shorter the titles of "brother" and "sister" are purely formalities, and Nemi's insistence on calling me "master" is just her idea of an odd joke. She and I have been together for a very long time, actually her summoning was purely accidental, a study session gone awry. But all of the punishment that came from it was more than worth it. "

Image
"Nemi, Zuko and even little Phin are already very dear to me, I hope my rambling explanation has made at least a little bit of sense. Take care Cora, we hope to hear from you again soon."
