Lachlan: (she is nervously stroking Iago as she speaks) Hi Cora. I know you are still angry with me...Tai has told me so. I can understand why, though I had hoped you would understand what I did, I did for love of Tai.
Lachlan: I thought you would understand because of how Eden is with you. She is also over-protective, although I do think not letting you out of the house is a bit extreme. Still, perhaps because you are the recipient of that sort of protection it would make you angry to see someone else smothered like that. I can see that, and understand.
Lachlan: I know Tai is old enough to take care of himself, but I cannot help it. When he was hurt so badly and I took him in it was as if I became mother to him and not just sister. And really he has had no one else to care about him. Our father is cruel to him and his mother loves him, but still keeps trying to force him into a mold of her making. I just want him to be who he is, and be happy.
Lachlan: I've been trying to be better about it...I've been so proud of him and the way he has become friends with Luis...even if he does tease Luis terribly. It was a big step for Tai to be so...open...to a man he knows is not gay. Ever since Father turned on him...he's been so afraid to open about his orientation to others. Luis may not know it, but by not rejecting Tai, he did a wonderful thing.
Lachlan: And then there is Naoki...(Lachlan's head tilts back as her voice begins to waver. She takes a deep breath as if trying to gain strength) Tai has thrown his whole self into helping Naoki and...and....
(Unable to be strong any longer, Lachlan collapses into tears, her heavy sobs upsetting Iago)
(Iago doesn't want Lachlan to cry and he rubs against her arm, hoping to distract her with demands for attention. It doesn't work and if anything, she cries harder.)
(With nothing else he can do, Iago pushes himself into her arms and let's Lachlan's tears soak into his fur)
(after a few more moments Lachlan gains control of herself again, stopping the tears and sitting up, though she still clings to Iago who purrs to relax her)
Lachlan: I'm sorry, Cora. I shouldn't have done that.
Lachlan: Be careful what you wish for Cora...sometimes it will end up destroying all of your dreams instead of fulfilling them.
Lachlan: We all wanted Naoki to regain his memory...but we never really thought about what that could mean to his being here, to his staying with Tai.
Lachlan: Now that it may happen, now that Prospero is here, telling us about who Naoki was and where he came from... Dammit I'm selfish Cora. I want to make Prospero go away and erase everything he said. I don't want Naoki's memory back because I don't want him to leave Tai! Tai loves him so much...it's not fair for him to lose... I don't want him to feel the pain of being rejected again...
Lachlan: Being selfish doesn't matter though, because I can't stop anything that will happen. One of these days Naoki will remember that once upon a time he was this Gar person that Prospero speaks of. Then he will have to choose between being Gar or being Naoki.... Pray for us Cora? Pray that whatever the choice is Tai survives it...
