Hi, Cora! Long time no write... Sorry, but I've been busy with my new album and recording promotional ads for it and time just got away from me.
Anyway, I was reading Ziegler Magazine for the blind and they had an article on ghosts that reminded me about your questions about Swanage being haunted.
Well... Winslow has come back! Remember I told you he talked to me when I was a baby? I heard him again. I was in this room, reading, when I felt a scary cold air blow past me and he said "Phoenix! Be careful!"
I can tell you it sent shivers down my back!
Dorian doesn't believe me, though.
"I didn't say I didn't believe you... I just said you might be... over imagining stuff. You HAVE been working 12 hour days to get that record done! It might be Winslow... or it might be the cold pizza you insist on having for breakfast."
"Whatever... it's yours now and nobody had better try to take it from you! Nobody threatens my little sister and gets away with it!"
Tani-daDowa! Itah manabu... Kom?
(Dowa, don't be upset! I am all right... OK?)
I'm sorry, Dorian does get protective. That was the way we talked to each other when we were toddlers... We still use it when other people aren't around, but it's a pretty simple, easy way to talk.
Anyway, Winslow said that the pendant belonged to someone who was coming to take it back... I think...
"Tell Cora what the pendant is supposed to be. Thgat might shed some light on it."
"Itah na Guduu! Ina Gua, Benu."
(I am not worried, I love you, Phoenix.)
"Sisters! Meh! What can you do with them?"
Okay, I'll describe it the way others tell me it looks. It's silver colored, but the metal is electrum... that's heavier than silver because it's a mixture of silver and gold. The jeweler we took it to said that it's very ... very... VERY old, like maybe over 500 years old. Wow! Anyway, it's a pregnant lady. Her tummy, though, isn't metal, it's a black star sapphire set in the body.
And instead of arms, she has wings stretching up, made of fire! So she's like half woman, half bird... a pregnant phoenix!
When I was only about 7 years old, another little girl in daycare tried to take the necklace away from me... and suddenly yelled out loud. She told the teacher that the pendant had burned her hand! It burned Alfred once, too. He was our butler before Jeffords. Nobody can pick the necklace up except me.
"Well, if this Winslow Leach tries anything, we'll be ready for him! (laughs) There's already been two small fires at Swanage this week. One started in Dad's room, in his desk. I think he left one of his infernal cigars around... and the other was in the old video room. If Bonita hadn't barked the place down, nobody would've caught it. That's a good dog we have."
"Anyway, we were having lunch... want some pizza?"
Dorian! I'm SURE Cora has enough to do without contending with your version of everything-but-the-kitchen-sink pizza as well! She'sll be up all night if she eats any of that!
"I don't know... it's pretty good! Mmmm1 Pineapple, pepperoni, anchovies, onions and goat cheese! Sure you don't want any, Cora?"
Boy, have WE wandered off topic! Anyway, as I was SAYING before I was *interrupted* by my garbage-pizza-eating brother... Yes, Winslow's ghost came back. Have you been experiencing any weird stuff lately?
Last night, I dreamed I could hear Bonita screaming. Not barking, but really hollering, almost like a child... I woke up in a cold sweat, I can tell you. That's when we heard her barking and caught the fire in the video room! Smoke all over the place.
I think the planets are aligned or something... Anyway, say Hi to Cami for me and tell her that she'll have a comp copy of the album when it is ready for shipping. She has all the others our band has done. Autographed, too! I couldn't do any less for our #1 fan!
I'll talk to you later. Bye for now.
